Limited Edition - The Ink Flag

Limited Edition - The Ink Flag

$139.00Price

Limited Edition | Operation Uvda (March 6–10, 1949) marked the closing chord of the War of Independence, during which Israel consolidated its sovereignty over the southern Negev and the southern Arava Valley.During the operation, forces from the Negev Brigade and the Golani Brigade advanced toward Umm Rashrash (Eilat). The commander of the Negev Brigade, Nahum Sarig, realized that no Israeli flag was available, and therefore ordered his soldiers to improvise one from a white sheet, with two ink stripes drawn across it and a Star of David sewn at the center, taken from a first-aid kit.The improvised flag was handed to Avraham Adan (“Bran”), commander of the vanguard force, who led a group of soldiers on foot to capture Umm Rashrash. After clearing the buildings, he climbed a flagpole and raised the flag - later known as the “Ink Flag” - in a moment that became one of the defining symbols of the end of the War of Independence.

The present edition is limited to just 300 pieces, released to mark the 78th Independence Day of the State of Israel. Each piece was produced using 3D printing with Multi Jet Fusion (MJF) technology, mounted on a solid walnut wood base, and bears its serial number on the underside.
