The menorah has accompanied the Jewish people from the days of the Tabernacle to the present. Once a central ritual object in the Temple, over the centuries it became a symbol of spirit, renewal, and national hope - a journey that culminated with the establishment of the State of Israel and the placement of the menorah at the heart of its official emblem.
The menorah is first mentioned in the Book of Exodus, in the description of the seven-branched golden lampstand that Moses was commanded to place in the Tabernacle. Its lamps were lit each day, illuminating the sacred service. It later became one of the central ritual objects in the Temple in Jerusalem.
The menorah took on further meaning in the vision of the prophet Zechariah, during the return to Zion. In the vision, a golden menorah appears alongside two olive trees, conveying to Zerubbabel, the leader of the people, the message: “Not by might, nor by power, but by My spirit.” The verse expresses the belief that the work of national revival depends not on strength alone, but first and foremost on the power of the spirit.
With the rise of the Zionist movement, the menorah acquired a new national significance, creating a bridge between an ancient heritage and the revival of the Jewish people in their homeland. It featured prominently in the works of Bezalel artists, appeared on the emblems of the Jewish Legions, was adopted as the symbol of the Betar movement, and more. In this way, the menorah became an expression of Hebrew creativity, Jewish courage, and national aspiration.

Each menorah is crafted from solid red oak and features a laser-engraved inscription inspired by Zechariah’s vision of the menorah (4:6): “Not by might, nor by power, but by spirit.”
